National Truck Driver Appreciation Week – September 13 – 19
Every single day, truck drivers make it possible for us to go about our daily lives. By delivering all of the goods and resources we need in our daily lives, they make it possible for us to have the food, clothes, and other goods necessary. While we should appreciate what they do every single day, there is a whole week dedicated to thanking them for their service!
This is a week in which we pay respect to all of the drivers around the nation who have committed their lives to making ours better. Nova Lines is no different. While we celebrate our drivers every day of the year, this week we want to do a little more for them. We are incredibly impressed with all of your hard work and dedication, and because of that, we want to do something special.
What do truckers do?
Because they do so much, we want to brag about them a little. Here are some facts and statistics to show you exactly what they do on a daily basis:
- Trucks move around 70% of goods around America. That means more than half of the goods you buy are in the stores because of truck drivers.
- If truck drivers stopped working, most grocery stores would run out of food in around 3 days. You wouldn’t have food to buy and eat if it weren’t for them.
- Drivers sometimes work up to 14 hours a day.
- Truck drivers have continued to work throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
Though many of us don’t even realize it, truckers make it possible for us to eat, have the clothes we wear, and buy all of the goods we need and want. They do so much for society, yet are always left behind the scenes. Most people don’t see their hard work and, therefore, don’t know to thank them for all that they do.
What does this year’s truck driver appreciation week entail?
This year, truck driver appreciation is from September 13-19 and it involves a lot more than a simple “thank you for all you do”. As we all know, 2020 has been a year of uncertainties. However, one thing has been consistent, and that is that hard work and dedication of truck drivers everywhere.
During the pandemic, truck drivers have continued to deliver goods throughout America and Canada. While the majority is working from home and staying in, they are out there every day no matter the circumstances. So, what can you do? Well, this week especially (or any time you see them) you can show your appreciation. Give them a “thank you”, or if you know one personally, send them a card. Every little bit of appreciation matters.
Some people are even making signs to hold up as drivers pass by. Even the President of the United States is acknowledging all they do for us and the services they provide. The fact that they are working through a global pandemic to deliver all of our necessities is a real wonder and a favor to all of us, so make sure to show your appreciation!
How can you show your appreciation?
It doesn’t take a grand gesture to show a truck driver how much you appreciate them. A simple thank you will suffice. However, if you know a truck driver personally, it would be a lovely gesture to write them a personalized card or send them a gift. Something to let them know how truly appreciated they are.
Just letting them know that they are appreciated and that their work doesn’t go unnoticed is a wonderful way to celebrate them. They do so much for us, so for one week, we should try and do something nice for them. Let them know how much you care and how much they really impact your life. Even a simple wave and a smile if you pass them on the highway can is a nice gesture to let them know they are not unseen.
What does Nova Lines do for their truckers?
Nova Lines appreciates all of the hard work and dedication that each and every one of our truckers put in this year and every year that they work for us. The professionalism, tenacity, and commitment that they show on a daily basis is incredible. As a trucking company, we know the sacrifices that these men and women put in on a daily basis and we can’t express enough gratitude.
Words cannot express how grateful we are for each and every one of our drivers, so as a small token of our appreciation, we will be giving away our fleet brand duffel bag, branded thermos/tumbler, and a branded mask to everyone on our team. This is a simple way of saying thank you for all of the hours of labor you put in, especially during this crazy time. Of course, this is the least we could do for all of the hard work you do, but we wanted to give you something to ensure that you realize how invaluable you are to us here at Nova Lines.
Nova Lines, of course, recognizes all of the other people behind the scenes making everything possible such as the dispatchers. However, this week is to celebrate the wonderful job that all of our drivers continue to do. We couldn’t be more grateful to have the wonderful team that we do and we want them to know it, not only this week, but every day.
Jim Bednarkiewicz, Vice President of Operations at Nova Lines, Inc. wrote in a letter to the drivers of Nova Lines: “As a former driver, I am proud to say that Nova Lines has the best drivers in the industry and am confident that we will continue to grow to become a major force in trucking because of the drivers like yourself who make up Nova Lines”. He also says, “As we take a step back and look at just the past 6 months it has become very clear the importance of professional drivers like you that we have the opportunity to work with every day here at Nova Lines.”
Remember, if you know a truck driver, take a moment this week to say a special thank you and express your gratitude for the services that they provide for everyone. Without them, we would not have access to so many things that we need.
If you are a driver, we salute you and we appreciate you. Thank you for all you do!
