How much experience do I need?
We require 2 years of CDL-A experience. We can train you in flatbed, if needed.

Where do you run?
Nova Lines operates East of the Rockies.

What does Nova Lines haul?
We primarily haul steel, building materials including lumber and shingles, as well as machinery, cars and more.

Do you allow pets?
Yes! Check with us for complete details.

Can I bring riders?
Yes! They must be at least 12 years old.

Do you have direct deposit?
Yes! Weekly settlements are electronically transferred every Friday via direct deposit. We also offer EFS Mastercard for settlement deposits, too.

Who pays for scales?
Nova Lines will pay for CAT scales with the "Weight My Truck" app.

How do I send in my paperwork?
Paperwork is scanned via Camscanner and Trip-Pak for physical copies.

What if I don’t have flatbed experience?
No problem! We will train you in flatbed driving as long as you have at least 2 years of OTR experience within the last 3 years.

Does Nova Lines pay referral bonuses?
Yes! We offer a $750 bonus for each driver referred.

How does Nova Lines dispatch?
Contractors are assigned a personalized Fleet Manager, at a ratio of 7 to 1, to make sure you get all the personal assistance you deserve.

HOW LONG IS THE LEASE TERM?*
Leases range from 3-5 years depending on the age of equipment.

HOW MUCH DOES NOVA LINES PAY?
Contractors are paid 80% of whatever is billed to the customer.

WHAT KIND OF TRUCKS ARE AVAILABLE FOR LEASE?*
The majority of our fleet are 2018-2019 Freightliner Cascadia, with a few 2016 Cascadias available, as well.

HOW MUCH ARE TRUCK PAYMENTS?*
Payments range from $745-$995 weekly.

HOW MUCH IS TRAILER RENTAL?*
Trailer rental is $250 per week, including usage and maintenance.

WHAT KIND OF ENGINE?*
We have Detroit Diesel engines.

WHAT KIND OF TRANSMISSION?
Most of our fleet is equipped with automatic transmissions. We do offer some manual transmissions, when available.

IS THERE A BALLOON PAYMENT?*
No! You’ll own the truck with a $1 buyout at the end of the lease.

IS SECUREMENT EQUIPMENT PROVIDED?
Yes.

WHAT IS THE HOME TIME POLICY?
Some areas have one week between home time; other areas are 2 or more weeks.

DO I NEED A HAZ-MAT OR TANKER ENDORSEMENT?
No. We don’t require Haz-mat or tanker endorsements.

WHO PAYS FOR TOLLS?
Each contractor pays for tolls. Trucks are equipped with a Pre-Pass Elite Pass unit.

ARE LEASE PURCHASE TRUCKS GOVERNED?*
Yes, our trucks are governed at 65mph with cruise control, and 70mph on the pedals.

HOW MUCH DOES NOVA LINES PAY?
We pay contractors 80% of what is billed to the customer.

DO I NEED MY OWN TRAILER?
No. Trailer rental options are available at $250 weekly. We also accept trailers that are newer than 10 years at the time of contract.

ARE THERE ANY WEIGHT REQUIREMENTS?
Yes. Nova Lines requires contractors to be able to scale up to 48,000 pounds.

DO I NEED A HAZ-MAT OR TANKER ENDORSEMENT?
No. We don’t require Haz-mat or tanker endorsements.

IF I OWN MY TRUCK, IS IT REQUIRED TO BE GOVERNED?
No. If you own your equipment, you choose how your truck runs.

DO I NEED MY OWN PHYSICAL DAMAGE INSURANCE?
No. Purchase options are available for Physical Damage insurance, at a cost of 4% of the truck value.

CAN ANY TRUCK CONTRACT WITH NOVA LINES?
Unfortunately, no. Trucks must be 10 years or newer at the time of contract.

IS SECUREMENT EQUIPMENT PROVIDED?
No. We have several purchase options available for flatbed tarps, straps, chains and more.

WHAT IS THE HOME TIME POLICY?
As a contractor, your home time is up to you! Most successful contractors go home every 2-3 weeks.

DO YOU OFFER A LEASE PURCHASE PROGRAM?
Yes! A lease purchase option is offered through our preferred leasing company, MP Service Group.

WHO PAYS FOR TOLLS?
Each contractor pays for tolls. Trucks are equipped with a Pre-Pass Elite Pass unit.

DO I NEED MY OWN BOBTAIL INSURANCE?
No! If your Physical Damage insurance is through Nova Lines, bobtail is provided at no extra cost.

Company Contractors - Mileage & Percentage

HOW ARE Mileage ContractorS DIFFERENT FROM Percentage Contractors?
Mileage Contractors receive$ .55 cents per mile, plus Tarp and Detention pay. Percentage Contractors receives 27% of what is billed to the customer.

Flatbed Training.

DOES NOVA LINES OFFER FLATBED TRAINING?
Yes! Flatbed training is available to drivers with at least 2 years of OTR experience within the last 3 years.

IS TRAINING PAID?
Yes! You’ll receive $500/week for training.

DOES NOVA LINES HIRE RECENT GRADS?
Unfortunately, no.

WHAT DOES TRAINING INCLUDE?
You’ll be trained for 2-3 weeks, with intensive on-the-job instruction, teamed with a senior flatbed driver.

WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE 2 YEARS OF RECENT OTR EXPERIENCE?
Unfortunately, 2 years of OTR experience is required to train.

Orientation.

HOW LONG IS ORIENTATION?
Your orientation will last 2 days.

WHERE DOES ORIENTATION TAKE PLACE?
Orientation takes place at our corporate office in River Grove, IL.

HOW DO I GET TO ORIENTATION?
Our first option is to book you a rental car. If that's not feasible, we’ll book a flight. Bus and train are always the last option.

WILL I BE PAID FOR ORIENTATION?
No. Orientation is not paid.

ARE MY HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS COVERED BY NOVA LINES?
Yes. We cover the cost of your hotel room for two nights.

WILL I HAVE TO SHARE A ROOM WITH ANOTHER DRIVER?
No! You will have your own private room.

CAN MY SIGNIFICANT OTHER JOIN ME?
Yes, they can accompany you on the trip and share your hotel room. But they can’t come to orientation sessions themselves. Orientation is designed for the driver only.

ARE ORIENTATION MEALS COVERED?
Yes. Nova Lines covers breakfast at your hotel, lunch at our corporate office. Plus, you will have a $20 room service dinner allowance.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO ORIENTATION?
Remember to bring: a valid Class A CDL, valid medical card, voided check, enough clothing and gear for at least one week on the road, including steel toe boots. If you are running under a business or LLC, we’ll also need a copy of your FEIN and Articles of Incorporation.

WHAT WILL ORIENTATION COVER?
You’ll be able to take care of new contractor paperwork, your road test, as well as meet with persons from our operations, safety, recruiting and ownership.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER ORIENTATION?
If training is not needed, you’ll be dispatched on your first load! You will receive your truck at orientation.

WILL I HAVE TO DEADHEAD BACK HOME?
No! Your fleet manager will dispatch you with a load going home.

CAN I CHOOSE THE SPECIFIC TRUCK I WANT?*
Trucks are assigned by the leasing company. From time-to-time, trucks may be assigned prior to orientation.
